Well I finally got a chance to install 2.0 on my iPhone, and as everyone said the leaked beta is very unstable, it crashed about 20 times in 10 minutes that I had it on my phone. I had to flash back to 1.1.4. Pwnage on the other hand seems to be working great, lots of options and lots of cool stuff. One problem that I did have was, that when you check the activate box and dont unlock, while the phone does activate you never get a signal, you actually have o activate using iTunes or unlock the baseband. If you do unlock the baseband and you are on ATT, make sure you install BootNeuter and after its done, go in it and slide the unlock slider to off, press the home button and reboot, this will make the visual voicemail work

ZiPhone updated the post stating that if you can activate the phone on ATT (or your carrier) you can jailbreak with existing 2.4 version. Here is the post:

DO NOT UPGRADE TO 1.1.4

ZiPhone will soon work with 1.1.4.

But I need to FULLY test it and
do a few
adjustments.

In the meanwhile, enjoy the KEY :)

Stay tuned.

People who donated will receive the next version a day before everyone else.

Expect a new version in 2 days (3 days for non-donors) :P

ZiPhone IS and will always be FREE.

NOTE: If you have a contract and activation

you can ALREADY use ziphone to jailbreak

and install applications on 1.1.4 !

While I skiped on the 2.1 version. 2.2 is now out. You can get it here. 2.2 is basicly same as 2.1 except for a minor bug removal. The 2.1 version contains some intresting fixes as well as additions. See the readme below

Here we are with ZiPhone 2.1.

Corrected the “apple logo bug”.

Removed -v option (now it’s always booting in verbose mode)

Added integrity check on zibri.dat.

Added 2 .BAT files for windows newbies :)

Updated README.txt

OSX versions updated.

Enjoy.

New jailbreak available here comming from #iPhone on IRC :) I will report on how this goes for me later on

Here is the readme file. This is done on the IPhone it self:

iPhone 1.1.3 “Soft” JailbreakBrought to you by planetbeing, NerveGas, ghost_000, dinopio, bgm, MuscleNerd,    and the iPhone-Elite and iPhone/iTouch Dev teams.
OVERVIEW
This “soft” update upgrades a 1.1.2 iPhone/iTouch to 1.1.3. You will requirea v1.1.2 Jailbroke device with the BSD Subsystem v1.5 or greater installed.
This installer does NOT upgrade your baseband. It only creates a log directoryfor it, which is needed in 1.1.3. Don’t freak out when you see it doing so.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Because this is a soft update, the kernel cache is not upgraded. You willneed to ensure you are on v1.1.2, otherwise this will cause certain DRMfunctionality, such as Nikita (Apple’s new software installer for the SDK)to malfunction.
UPGRADE MUST BE PERFORMED FROM 112 TO WORK PROPERLY
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: This installer downloads a significant amount of data from Apple’s      website. Be sure you have WiFi turned on so that you don’t use your      mobile connection – or you’ll be sitting there a while!
NOTE: This installer takes some time, and a good bit of memory. It’s a good idea      to do it while charging.
1. Copy this entire distribution to / on your iPhone/iTouch   So you will have /update-prebinding-path.txt and so on
2. Run the install.sh script:
   # sh install.sh
3. The device will perform an upgrade and reboot into 1.1.3
That’s it!

So as I reported before, it was all working great except for Gmaps and perhaps other things. So I decided to do an updated via ITunes to 1.1.3 and then downgrade to 1.1.1 and update again. Following instruction here all was going well until I started ITunes and it told me that there is an “unknown error” and it couldn’t restore to 1.1.1 so I spent next hour trying to figure it out, when I finally got it (I had to tell iphuc in windows to disconnect)I was able to go back to 1.1.1, then I started the update to jailbrake 1.1.3 again and in the middle installer told me that there is an error and I had to start all over again. So after another hour I had 1.1.3 on and jailbroken, but phone didnt have any bars and phone functionality was gone. Following netkas mini guide I uploaded the lockdownd to appropriate dir. After that the phone told me that it needs to be activate, well since I do have ATT, but I didnt want to activate on ATT (not to loose my discount) I was kinda stuck. After few minutes of self debate I decided to just go for it and activate it on the secound line (discount applies to the primary line supposedly) so I went to my OSX86 install on the same laptop and started ITunes, put in my phone number and guess what it tells me “market down, retry in 4 hours) great just my luck. So I decide to go to sleep and in the morning activate. Morning well phone is activate on ATT checked my OLAM and ATT shows IPhone plan on second line and discount still on the primary line, hewww maybe I`m safe. Ok lets restore the phone (I made sure I synced to ITunes before I upgraded) hmmm it doesnt have the right IPhone in the restore list on the OSX86. Thats strange so I got to windows and I do see the right phone in the list, but last sync date is 10/2007. Wow so now I lost my pics, my calendar events and my mail settings. So over all great night. So now its time to go back to 1.1.3(I downgraded again since I was trying to bring data back). Wish me luck
